The green deduction for a home charger
The green deduction is Sweden’s tax reduction for green technology. A home charging point can qualify. The company deducts it on the invoice. The rate and the cap stay pending until they are copied from the Tax Agency.

What the deduction is
The reduction applies when you hire a company to install green technology. For a charger it is the charging-point installation, labour and materials under the Tax Agency’s rules. Travel, the firm’s own equipment, and design do not qualify. Buying the unit alone, or invoicing yourself through a sole trader, does not qualify. Solar, storage, and a charging point can have different rates. Use the charging-point rate. Until our figure is filled in, it stays pending.
Who can get it
You must own the home when the work is done, and it must be part of your household or your parent’s. A house, an owner apartment, or a bostadsrätt can qualify, including a holiday home you use yourself. Rented homes, a child’s home, and the part you let out do not. You also need enough tax to reduce. The annual cap stays pending on this page until the figure is filled in.
The company deducts it on the invoice
The usual path is that the company deducts the reduction on the invoice for labour and materials. You pay the lower amount. After the work is finished and paid, the company requests the money from the Tax Agency. Payment must be electronic, and the firm needs F-tax approval. Your name should be on the invoice, or you should be the person who pays it. Ask the quote to show the deduction on its own line.
Rate and cap
For a charging point the deduction is 50 percent of eligible labour and material. The cap is 50,000 kronor per person and year, shared with other green technology. It is not 50 percent of travel, freight, design, or a new distribution board. The figures were read at the Tax Agency on 6 Nov 2026. The old private Ladda hemma grant ended when the green-technology reduction started on 1 January 2021. Ladda bilen is a separate scheme for organisations, companies, and housing cooperatives.
How to read the quote
A useful quote separates the charger, the cable, load balancing, and costs that do not qualify, such as travel. The deduction should be its own line. The price of the unit is only part of what you compare.
Next step
Read the Tax Agency’s page before you count on the deduction. Then use the charger comparison and the guides on houses and load balancing. The deduction does not make an oversized charger fit a small fuse.

Common questions
Do I have to apply myself?
Usually no. The company deducts the reduction on the invoice and then requests payment from the Tax Agency once the work is paid. You should be named on the invoice or be the person who pays it.
Do I get the deduction if I only buy the charger?
No. The deduction is for an installation a company carries out. Buying the material alone does not qualify, and you should not connect the charger yourself.
What are the rate and the cap?
They are on the Tax Agency’s site and in the box at the top of this page. Until the figure is filled in from that site, you see pending, not a number. Compare the quote with the agency on the same day.
Does it apply to a bostadsrätt?
Yes, if you hold the apartment with a bostadsrätt, you own that right when the work is done, and the home is part of your household or your parent’s. A rented flat does not qualify. Read the conditions for your home at the Tax Agency.
